About me

Hi! My name is Jenn Chan (she/her). I was born and raised in San Francisco and I am a child of immigrants from Taishan and Guangzhou.

People describe me as kind, approachable, calm, and non-judgmental. I graduated from the Wright Institute with an MA in Counseling Psychology and from UC Davis with a BS in Environmental Policy Analysis & Planning.

My path to becoming a therapist has been winding, beginning with an interest in mental health as a high schooler facing my own challenges. As a lifelong transit rider whose parents didn’t drive, I was equally interested in city planning and transportation. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in a variety of roles: as a barista, environmental due diligence project manager, administrative assistant, and a transportation planner.

After exploring different fields, I reconnected with this calling as an adult, inspired by my transformative personal therapy experiences and love for connecting with people one-on-one. My diverse professional experiences taught me how to connect with people from all walks of life, adapt to their needs, and navigate complex systems with empathy and clarity. These skills, combined with my lived experiences and ability to listen, problem-solve, and foster collaboration have prepared me to create a supportive and understanding therapeutic space for my clients.

I currently live in San Francisco with my husband, pet cat, and turtle. In my spare time, I enjoy taking care of my houseplants, watching stand-up comedy, cooking new recipes with friends, improving and practicing my Cantonese, and exploring new places.
