Frequently Asked Questions

Are you taking new clients?

Yes! I offer both in-person and virtual therapy services to California residents through the Marina Counseling Center

  • In-person sessions are held at the Marina Counseling Center office at 1781 Union Street.

  • Virtual sessions are held on a secure Zoom platform available to California residents.

Session length, frequency, and availability

  • A typical session for an individual is 50-minutes long. Most clients will attend one session per week, but the frequency of sessions that are appropriate in your case may be more or less than once per week, depending upon your needs.

  • I currently have slots available Monday to Thursday between 9am to 4pm (i.e., the latest session ends at 5pm). All evening slots are currently full.

Fees and payment

  • I accept credit/debit card payments only; no cash, check, or digital payment (PayPal, Venmo, etc.). Your card will be charged at the end of each session.

  • You have a right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost. The number of visits that are appropriate in your case, and the estimated cost for those services, depends on your needs and what you agree to in consultation with your therapist. Do you take insurance?

I do not accept insurance, however, if your provider offers reimbursement for out-of-network services, I can provide you with a superbill (a receipt). I would suggest contacting your insurance provider beforehand to confirm coverage for reimbursements.

Do you offer sliding scale/discounted rates?

I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots. Please reach out to me directly through the contact form to inquire. For lower fee services, please check out the MCC Resources page.

What is your cancellation policy?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. I ask that clients who need to cancel or reschedule a session to let me know at least 24 hours before our scheduled appointment. Clients who provide less than 24 hours notice, or miss their session, will be charged the full fee for the missed appointment.

How does the consultation work?

The phone consultation is free and can take up to 20 minutes. It’s an opportunity for you to share your main concerns to help me understand your needs, for you to ask me any questions you may have, and to collaboratively determine if we’re a good fit for each other. For relationship or friendship therapy, I encourage all participants to take part in the consultation.
